Las Vegas Age of Chivalry Renaissance Fair 2008!!! It’s here! It’s here! OMG!!!!

Ok….not so much. To be honest I am feeling very calm about the whole thing. Normally by this point I am running around like a chicken with my head chopped off trying to make sure I have everything ready for fair.

My first three fairs I was herald. I had courts to plan, royals to manage, and names to learn. On top of that I was royal go-fer, making sure everything was as the King/Queen wanted and needed it. I also helped marshal combat, judge arts, compete in combat & arts, entertain the populace with songs, jokes and stories…and find time to eat, sleep, and explore fair.

Last year I was King; I had all that times 10 plus an Imperial meeting.  Not to mention I was in love and trying to spend time with Jose during fair…that didn’t work so much. Thank God Jose is a patient man. I love him so much.

This year the most I have to worry about is what I’m going to pack.  Yes I have a few things lined up, helping here and there and singing songs, but nothing that I myself am in charge of. Now you would think that this would make me feel all sorts of free…but I am actually feeling very lost. What is my purpose at fair? Do I need one? Is there more out there then just what is in the boarders of the ESC encampment?

Well we will just have to find out and this year Jose will be with me sharing in the magic of fair.

So it's August and the Las Vegas Ren. Fair is comming up in October. I already have plans for fair. I will be singing (hopefully I can get away with a hat full of money at the end of fair), helping announce fighters to the Crowns, and manning a few demo tents.

I am realy looking forward to the singing as I hear Alexander James will once again be at fair this year. Last year when I was king I was introduced to him but was unable to sing for the more experianced Bard. I am hoping to get some advice on my music and also see what tips he may have for someone like me. I am also hopeing to earn some extra cash busking, that is when you find a quite part of fair where no other entertainers are, set out a collections hat, and sing for spare change. LOL I read about it in a book called Bedlams Bard and have always wanted to give it a try.

This year I am also hoping to get my new cloak made. I've had an idea for a rainbow colored patchwork cloak, or a Gypsies Cloak, for some time now. I've asked my friends in my kingdom from all over to send me bits of fabric from their old garb projects that I can sew onto the cloak. This way I will have a bit of my friends with me whereever I go!

Well my time as King of Vega has passed and I am back to being a simple Bard. I like that...I missed being able to just kick up my feet and be myself. Being King was fun and all but being a wandering Bard has a freedom to it.

I will be going to the Ceder City UT Ren. Fair this weekend. I plan on relaxing and working on music while Im there. Last year I was the only King to attend so I was kinda on show the entire fair...this time I get to just enjoy myself and maybe get into some truble with one of my best friends Sir Impact!

I am currently serving my Kingdom as it's King in hopes to help it and the empire my kingdom belongs to (The Empire of Chivalry and Steel or the ECS) to grow and become strong. The lands I rule and protect are the mundain states of Nevada, Oregan, Washington, Northern California, and Utah. I have sujects in Germany, England, the state of Pensilvania, and there are rumors of Japan and some where in the Middle East (Please come home safe to us guys, you are the real warriors fighting for our freedom).
